Lawmakers to brief Wilkes citizens at Chamber breakfast this morning

At last year's Legislative Breakfast, Senator Jim Whitehead announced the opening of the new Wilkes County Pre-release Center. What announcement will Wilkes County's legislators have in store for this year's breakfast? Both Whitehead and Representa-

tive Mickey Channell have confirmed that they will be on hand to talk with Wilkes County citizens about the upcoming legislative session this morning at 8 a.m. Rep. Barry Fleming was invited but a scheduling conflict prevents his attendance.

Representatives from the offices of U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood, Sen. Saxby Chambliss, and Sen. Johnny Isaakson are also expected.

The Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce and the Wilkes County Community Partnership, as in years past, has invited citizens of Wilkes County to attend the 2006 Annual Legislative Breakfast Thursday morning at the Shiloh Mission Center on McLendon Avenue off Whitehall Street. The cost for the breakfast is $9 per person.

Attendees may pay in advance, at the door, or be billed.

Representatives from the Family Connection and the Wilkes County Community Partnership will also give those attending a briefing on their activities for the year.
