CSRA unemployment rises to 6.2% in Oct. The unemployment rate in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) rose to 6.2 percent in October, up four-tenths of one percent from 5.8 percent in September, according to a report from the Georgia Department of Labor. Meanwhile the state's unemployment rate rose to 4.7 percent in October, up one-tenth of one percent from 4.6 percent in September.
Georgia's unemployment rate increased, contrary to the national trend toward lower unemployment, primarily because of a large number of layoffs and a job growth rate that is not keeping up with the number of new job seekers.
