Wrestlers begin season with wins

On Tuesday, November 21, the Washington-Wilkes Wrestling team traveled to Greenbriar High School to face Greenbrier and Evans High School. The Tigers won six out of eight matches wrestled against Evans. Scoring wins for Washington by weight class were: 119: John Lovvorn by pin 125: Derrick Ferris by pin 130: Josh Cosby by pin 135: Tyson Gilland by pin 145: Jesse Crago by pin

152: D.J. Willis by pin

Against Greenbrier, the Tigers won five out of eight matches. Scoring wins for Washington were: 119: John Lovvorn by pin 125: Derrick Ferris by pin

145: Jesse Crago by a major decision (11-3) 152: D.J. Willis by pin

On November 28,the Tiger wrestlers traveled to Madison County to take on Madison, Stevens County, and Hart County. Results will appear in next week's issue.

The Washington-Wilkes Middle School wrestlers also traveled to Greenbrier. Scoring wins for WWMS were:

Brandon Turner by a minor decision (8-7) Devin Ferris with two pins Chad Cordell with three pins

Axle McCarty with two pins

James McAvoy with two major decisions (11-2 and 10-0)

Andrew White by a minor decision (3-2) and by pin David Martin with two pins Will Lawson with two pins Matthew Howard by pin Rob Lovvorn by pin.
