Flu shots will be available at the Wilkes County Health Department on Gordon Street every Thursday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m.

Beaverdam Baptist Church no longer sponsors the Dial-APrayer ministry, but it is again sometimes available locally. The toll free Dial-A-Prayer number is 1-877-337-7785. Illnesses of individuals in the ministry have caused the interruption of services.

Georgia TASC will sponsor a gourmet food booth at the Livery Stable on Court Street, Washington, December 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Celebrated Chef Joe Barnett will be preparing his shrimp and grits and seafood gumbo. Desserts will also be available.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Sunday School will present its annual Christmas program Sunday, December 17, 6 p.m.

Pompey's Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate the birthday of the pastor, Rev. W.R. Ferrell, on Sunday, December 24, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Special guests will be Rev. L.V. Turman and Faith Christian Center, Washington. Dinner will be served.

The Wilkes County Baptist Church will present "Christmas Is Jesus," a Mike Speck Musical, on Sunday, December 17, at 5 p.m. Heavy refreshments will be served after the program.

Flint Hill Baptist Church will celebrate its usher board anniversary Sunday, January 7, 11:45 a.m., during the morning worship service.

New Saints CME Church, 515 Baltimore Rd., Washington, will hold this month's SNAP meeting Saturday, December 16, 10 a.m. Anyone interested is invited to join and attend the meeting.

A called meeting of the 911 Board of Directors will be held Friday, December 15, 8:30 a.m., in the office of Wilkes County Chairman of Commissioners Sam Moore. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss 911 operations and procedures.

New Saints CME Church, 515 Baltimore Road, Washington, will have a candlelight service Sunday, December 10, 6:30 p.m.

The Reese J. Booker Scholarship Program will be held Sunday, December 24, 6 p.m., at Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church on Lexington Avenue.

The Philomath Church Preservation Association will sponsor a low country boil on Saturday, December 9, 6 p.m., to benefit the restoration projects of the Association. The event will be held at the Buckman Barn in Philomath. Advance tickets only will be sold at a cost of $20 each. The First Assembly of God, Lincolnton will present a Christmas concert Sunday, December 10, 6 p.m. The concert will feature familiar Christmas music by the Sanctuary Choir and Children's Choir along with soloists, trios and ensembles. A nursery will be provided. The church is located on the Thomson Highway in Lincolnton.

The Virtuous Women of Praise and Mt. Nebo Gospel Chorus will have their fourth annual Christmas Musical Extravaganza on Sunday, December 17, 3 p.m., at the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. Dinner will be served immediately following the program.

"Heirline," a gospel singing group, will perform at Purvis Community School, Highway 17 between Wrens and Thomson, Friday, December 8, at 7 p.m., along with the Byrd Family. Also appearing will be the Bible Fellowship Church Singers and Musicians. The program is sponsored by the Bible Fellowship Church.

Christ's City of Prayer Church is having pastor appreciation day Sunday, December 10, 3 p.m.

Gibson Grove Baptist Church will celebrate the 50th birthday of Pastor Joseph B. Williams Saturday, December 16, 3 p.m., at the Third Shiloh Building. Pastor Harvey Peaks from the Friendship Baptist Church, Crawfordville, will be the guest speaker.

Newtown Baptist Church will have a Christmas cantata on Sunday, December 17, at 11 a.m.

The Wilkes County Board of Registrars will meet December 14, 10 a.m., in Room 323 of the Wilkes County Courthouse. The public is invited to attend.
