Food boxes packed for Angel Tree
Rich Seibert, chairman of the food drive for the Angel Tree families, enlists the aid of the First United Church Youth Group to help pack the food boxes for delivery Saturday to about 130 families. Each box will contain a ham with canned vegetables, rice and other staples to make a holiday meal. Other adults assisting were Tena Blakey, John Keen, Mark Ward, and Laura Toburen. The Angel Tree Program is a community wide project coordinated by the First United Methodist Church to assist children and their families for Christmas. "Angels" are identified through several sources. Interested citizens select an angel and buy and wrap gifts for them; others donate money to be used for food and/or gifts; others deliver the packages to the families. It takes a lot of people doing a lot of jobs to minister to almost 300 children and 130 families. Gift and food delivery is scheduled for Saturday, December 9 at 9 a.m.from the church Fellowship Hall. Volunteers are needed to make the deliveries. For more information, call the church office at 706-678-7116.
