Wilkes Health Care Center recognizes special Veterans

Veterans honored at a special program at Wilkes Health Care included staff and residents (from left) Lynn Bryant, Carl Stewart, Charles Waller, Charlie Coker, Lenoard Hopkins and Gloria Pulliam.
Six residents and four staff members at Wilkes Health Care Center were recognized in a special Veterans Recognition Ceremony held around the flagpole at the Center.

Social worker, Martha Hall, opened the program in prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag continued the program.

Sherrye Denard, AD, read a poem before presenting each one honored a red carnation boutonniere or corsage and an American Flag.

A yellow ribbon was placed around the big oak tree for the soldier's safe return.

Following the ceremony, the staff and residents assisted in packing ten care packages to be sent to soldiers in Iraq.

Honored were residents, US Army, Carl Stewart, Joe Harrison, James Allen; US Army, World War II, Charles Waller, Charlie Coker, Leonard Hopkins; and staff, Lynn Bryant, RN, MDS Coordinator; Gloria Pulliam, RN, US Army, Vietnam; Gillian Sinclair, OT Rehab MGR, US Army, First Desert Storm, and John Dean, PT, US Army.
