The Wilkes County Board of Registrars will meet December 14, 10 a.m., in Room 323 of the Wilkes County Courthouse. The public is invited to attend.

The United Community Awareness Program (UCAP) will have its annual prayer breakfast January 13, 8:30 a.m., at the Third Shiloh Building, 219 McLendon Drive. Tickets are $6.00 and may be purchased at the Washington- Wilkes Chamber of Commerce and at the door. The speaker will be Rev. James L. Reid of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Augusta.
The Tignall Homemakers Club will meet for its bingo-luncheon Thursday, December 21, 12:30 p.m., at the home of Sally Kennedy.
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, will have a Christmas program Saturday, December 16, 3 p.m., with the youth department in charge. The drama team will be performing.
The Washington-Wilkes Food Bank located at 420 Jackson Street will be open Saturday, December 16, from 6-9 a.m.
The Wilkes County Branch NAACP will celebrate the 144th Emancipation (Jubilee Day) with a program on January 1, 2007. The program will be held at 12:00 p.m., at the Third Shiloh Mission Center, McLendon Drive, Washington, with Rev. Christopher Andrews as the keynote speaker. Rev. G.L. Avery is president of the Wilkes County Branch.
Wilkes Transit and the Wilkes County Senior Center will be closed December 22 through January 1 and will re-open January 2, 2007.
Flu shots will be available at the Wilkes County Health Department on Gordon Street every Thursday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m.

Also appearing will be the Bible Fellowship Church Singers and Musicians. The program is sponsored by the Bible Fellowship Church.
Gibson Grove Baptist Church will celebrate the 50th birthday of Pastor Joseph B. Williams Saturday, December 16, 3 p.m., at the Third Shiloh Building. Pastor Harvey Peaks from the Friendship Baptist Church, Crawfordville, will be the guest speaker.
Newtown Baptist Church will have a Christmas cantata on Sunday, December 17, at 11 a.m. Flint Hill Baptist Church will celebrate its usher board anniversary Sunday, January 7, 11:45 a.m., during the morning worship service.
New Saints CME Church, 515 Baltimore Rd., Washington, will hold this month’s SNAP meeting Saturday, December 16, 10 a.m. Anyone interested is invited to join and attend the meeting.
A called meeting of the 911 Board of Directors will be held Friday, December 15, 8:30 a.m., in the office of Wilkes County Chairman of Commissioners Sam Moore. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss 911 operations and procedures.
The Reese J. Booker Scholarship Program will be held Sunday, December 24, 6 p.m., at Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church on Lexington Avenue.
