Bring canned food instead of fines for overdue books at Mary Willis Library

Instead of bringing money to the Mary Willis Library to pay overdue fines on books, patrons are invited to bring canned food now through Saturday, December 16, and help someone in need.

All libraries in the Bartram Trail Regional Library System will be accepting non-perishable food in place of monetary fines owed for overdue library books, videos, and audiocassettes.

The food must not have reached its expiration date, so patrons should check the date before submitting the food.

One can or package of food will pay off $1 or a portion of a dollar if fewer fines are owed. The food cannot be used to pay for lost items, damaged items, or photocopies.

All food collected will be given to the Wilkes County food pantries.
