Urges giving at Christmas time
John Via (left), retired priest of the Church of the Mediator, was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Washington Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, December 12. Via’s topic was “A Christmas Message” and centered on what Christmas has become over the years. He said he’d like to see Christ brought back into Christmas and that through giving that we receive. He also urged members to turn Christmas into giving of themselves – to other people, to their families with quality time, to an older person in a nursing home, or to some community activity like reading to young children in school – and to do it all year long. Rev. Bill Boyd was program host for the day.
