Many churches will be celebrating the birthday of Jesus. Phillips Mill Baptist Church will present a special Christmas program Sunday morning, December 24, which is Christmas Eve. The children are excited about acting out the story of the birth of Jesus, along with the choir’s cantata. Everyone who can is cordially invited to join us. Ladies, remember how we used to “play house?” The pretty flower arrangement Sunday at Phillips Mill was placed by Dean and Lindia McDonald in honor of pastor Rev. Robert Bob Rayner. The children’s choir presented special music. They sang “Go Tell It on the Mountain.” They plan to go Christmas caroling Tuesday night, December 19. Music director Bes Moore will be driving the church van. Belated happy birthday to Clarice Combs (Mrs. Aubrey) Tyler who recently celebrated her 80th birthday. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Nunn of Washington visited his sisters, Dorothy Hardy at Wilkes Health Care and Mildred and her husband, Dan McAvoy. They also visited a niece, Miss Emily Rorie at Echols Personal Care Home in Rayle. Among other visitors of Mr. and Mrs. McAvoy and Jerry were Tom Hardy, Shelton West, and their daughter, Dorothy Ann Saxon. An update on the writer, Priscilla. Our son Lee came from Atlanta and carried me to Athens Friday, December 8. I had two doctors appointments. The first was with my surgeon who x-rayed my hip and gave me a good report on my progress, but said I needed to continue special therapy in swing bed. Hopefully by next week I can go home or to Mary Jane’s. I also received a good report from my heart doctor. In six weeks I will go back to both doctors. Your prayers, visits and phone calls and cards have been very uplifting and appreciated. All the hospital staff have been very nice and thoughtful and my family has been one of the best around. Thanks to everyone who had a part in making the fund-raiser low country boil supper at the Buckman Barn in Philomath Saturday night successful. There was a good turnout of support and greatly appreciated.
