Washington Woman’s Club members enjoy special Christmas music program Dec. 11

Presenting a delightful program of Christmas music at the Woman’s Club are (standing l-r) Tom Duggan, Buzzy Randall, Jo Randall, Emilie Waters and Rose Bennett. Mary Duggan (seated) introduced the program.
Mary Duggan presented a special program of Christmas music to members of the Washington Woman’s Club as they gathered at the clubhouse Monday, December 11.

Mrs. Duggan introduced the program by giving a brief history of many of the singers noting that some began together as The Washington Little Theater Singers who put on many holiday musicals. Gathering to sing for the Club Monday were Emilie Waters, Rose Bennett, Buzzy Randall and Tom Duggan, accompanied by Jo Randall. They sang many beautiful and familiar Christmas selections and included all the Club members in a special rendition of “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Another highlight was Mr. Duggan’s solo, “Birthday of the King”.

Prior to the program Vivian Walker presided and Bunny Gunby opened with a devotional on Christmas, the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, and blessing for the luncheon.

Following the luncheon and program, hostesses, Janet Burgess, Cheryl Bentley, Nancy Madden and Nancy Sisson, were thanked. In addition to the festive holiday mantel and table arrangements with candles, red bows, greenery and angels, a large decorated Christmas tree near the piano was surrounded with gifts for residents of Wilkes Health Care Center brought by the members. Bunny Gunby will deliver these gifts.

It was noted that an anonymous gift of $500 had been made to the Woman’s Club to be used toward to the beautification of the clubhouse.

Relay for Life thanked the Woman’s Club for the use of the clubhouse for their recent soup and salad luncheon.

Thirty-five members attended.
