Mrs. Marie Wooten guest of honor at 79th birthday celebration Nov. 11
Mrs. Wooten was born November 14, l927, the fourth of nine children to the late Weaver and Annie Mae Samuels and was married to Stokes Wooten for 56 years until his death in 2000. She is a very faithful and active member of Gibson Grove Baptist Church and is admired for her integrity, her work ethic, and humanitarian services. As Mrs. Wooten was seated in a place of honor, she was presented a corsage pinned by her sister, Mrs. Ruth Moss of Philadelphia, Penn. A fall theme was used in decorating and the beautiful fall arrangement gracing the head table was a birthday gift from Mrs. Charlotte P. Simmons for whom Mrs. Wooten has worked for 21 years. A delicious celebratory dinner was prepared by Gibson Grove Baptist Church members and friends. Included in the program was a hymn and prayer by Pastor Dante Smith. Darlene Williams welcomed everyone and special tributes were given by family and friends. Pastor Lance Pitts paid tribute by singing “It’s Your Time”. Mayor Willie Burns presented Mrs. Wooten a special birthday proclamation. A large number of family and friends enjoyed the festivities. Special guests included her sisters and brothers, Mrs. Rose Curry, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee Samuels, Johnny B. Samuels and Emory Samuels of Washington; Maeozia Samuels of Woodburg, N. J.; Mrs. Ruth Moss of Philadelphia, Penn.; and Mrs. Clara Weems of Norristown, Penn.
Mrs. Wooten expressed her deep appreciation for every act of kindness to her in celebrating her birthday.
