Christmas Eve this year is on Sunday, December 24. Most churches in the area are having regular Sunday morning services. Churches that have reported evening services to The News-Reporter are the following:

Washington Presbyterian Church

The Washington Presbyterian Church will celebrate Christmas Eve with its annual Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols at 7:30 p.m. Regular morning worship service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Rev. Randy Hardy is pastor.

First Baptist Church

The First Baptist Church will have its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight service beginning with music at 6 p.m., followed by the observance of The Lord's Supper.

The music will be presented by Patricia Burton, soprano; Lizzie Newsome, flute; Laura Baldwin, piano; and Jane Newsome, organ. Dr. Tony Guthrie, interim pastor, will lead the Lord's Supper celebration.

The regular morning worship service will be held at 11 a.m. with Dr. Guthrie bringing the message.

First United Methodist Church

The First United Methodist Church will have a Candlelight Communion Service led by Rev. Gale Seibert, pastor, at 6 p.m. The regular morning service will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Church of the Mediator

The Church of the Mediator is without a vicar at this time and will not have an evening Christmas Eve observance. The morning service will begin at 11:15 a.m.

Little River Methodist Charge

The Little River family of churches - Smyrna United Methodist Church, Bethel UMC, and Mount Zion UMC - will be hosting a special Christmas Eve communion service beginning at 5 p.m. at Smyrna UMC. Services will begin with a reading, a few Christmas hymns, and then the blessing of the elements. Those who wish to spend a moment in reflective prayer and join the communion table are welcome to come any time from 5-7 p.m.
