Primary Performers entertain Optimist Club members at December 12 meeting

The Primary Performers musical group includes 40 children from second and third grade classes at WW Primary School.
The Washington-Wilkes Primary Performers, directed by music teacher Ann Tiller, gave a beautiful and uplifting performance of Christmas music at the December 12 meeting of the Washington Optimist Club upstairs at the Jockey Club. The performance drew praise from club members and restaurant patrons who could hear from downstairs.

The Primary Performers is a group of 40 children from the second and third grade classes at Washington Wilkes Primary School. These energetic students are enthu-

siastic about music and work diligently on their skills as they practice several days a week before the school day begins.

The W-WPS Primary Performers show off their talents and provide musical entertainment for others throughout the year. They presented their Christmas program again on Wednesday, December 13, for their school and guests.

A diversified program of music was presented. Music from other lands included an African-American folk song, “African Noel,” a French folk tune, “Patapan,” and a Spanish

song, “Fum Fum Fum.” Contemporary songs included “Kids and Christmas,” by Jill Gallina, “Remember December,” “Still Still Still,” and “Rap on the Rooftop,” by Sally K Albrecht. Also performed were “O Come Little Children,” “My Little Dreidl,” “Dona Nobis Pacem,” and “Song of Peace,” by Teresa Jennings.

As a token of their appreciation members of the Optimist Club donated $100 to the W-WPS music program. Program chairman for the December 12 meeting was Jim Bennett.
