George Lawrence Walker Funeral services for George Lawrence Walker, 85, of Madison were held Saturday, December 16, 2006, at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Callaway and Dr. Perry Crowell officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with military rites. He died Wednesday, December 13, at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Fla. Mr. Walker was a retired biologist with the State Game and Fish Commission and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of Hiram Masonic Lodge #51, American Legion Post 194, and of Beulah Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Walker Harris, and her husband Steve of Conyers; three sons, Larry Walker and his wife Janine, Tallahassee, Fla., Charles Christmas of Tallahassee, Fla., and John Walker of Augusta; five sisters, Evelyn W. Logan of Graniteville, S.C.; Ruth W. Poland, Lincolnton, Priscilla W. Styles, Conyers, Shirley W. Ashmore, Belton, S.C., and Imelda Walker, Lewiston, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Members of Hiram Masonic Lodge 51 served as pallbearers.
Rees Funeral Home of Lincolnton was in charge of arrangements.
