The Wilkes County Branch NAACP will celebrate the 144th Emancipation (Jubilee Day) with a program on January 1, 2007. The program will be held at 12:00 p.m., at the Third Shiloh Mission Center, McLendon Drive, Washington, with Rev. Christopher Andrews as the keynote speaker. Rev. G.L. Avery is president of the Wilkes County Branch.
The New Salem Baptist Church will have a Watchnight Service Sunday, December 31, starting at 10 p.m. Pastor Reynolds and the congregation extend an invitation to everyone to attend.
The Old School Reunion will meet Saturday, January 13, 11:30 a.m., at the Third Shiloh Building, Washington. Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Deacon Board will had its annual program January 21, 4 p.m., with Rev. R.L. Reynolds of New Salem Baptist Church as the guest speaker.
There will be a New Year’s Eve singing at the Ministry of Love and Faith, beginning at 7 p.m. with Terri Gibbs singing from 8:30-9:30 p.m. Other singers will follow. Refreshments will be served. The church is located at 6104 Lincolnton Road, Thomson, in the Raysville community.
