Things are quiet on the homefront this week. I hope everyone in News- Reporter land had a very merry Christmas and will have a very happy new year. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Rev. Lamar Davenport Jr. who passed away Tuesday, December 19. He was a friend to everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Allen Huff Jr., mayor of Crawford, who died unexpectedly

at his home early Sunday at the age of 61. He had many friends in Wilkes County and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Our prayers are with Loyd Mathews of Lexington who is in an Athens Hospital. He is Douglas Mathews’ dad. I do not have much news this week because the folks at The News-Reporter needed a break and so do I. Please save all your Christmas news for next week. Happy new year.
