Get Hooked
By GARY TOOLE
At the Huddle House, the waitresses were wearing Tshirts with the in scription, “Get hooked on the Huddle House.

I thought, “As often as I go in there I guess I am hooked.” Then I thought, “I’ve heard of getting hooked on c i g a r e t t e s , drugs, and alcohol, but never hooked on the Huddle House.” I told the waitress that I needed to go to a treatment center to get off the Huddle House addiction.

Funny, but there’s some truth to that. We can get hooked on all kinds of things and most of them separate us from God. Most of them swallow all our time until there’s none left for God’s work. Amen.

What we need to do is get hooked on Jesus and I don’t say that trying to be hip. I say that as one that knows what it is to be hooked on the additions of this old world to the point that they almost killed me. I mean I was hooked both hook, line, and sinker and because of the power of prayer, not from me but from other true Christians, then my life was changed and I was loosed from the chains that bound me.

You see, I prayed every time I got drunk as I stuck my face where I usually put another part of my anatomy, but my prayer was in vain because I really didn’t mean it, yet the effectual, fervent prayers of righteous people who prayed for me made all the world of difference. When I made up my mind that I was tired of being bound by the demons of this old world, then my prayers started to mean something and God set me free.

Liberty like the word says, “Whosoever God sets free is free indeed.” I went from hooked on this and that to hooked on Jesus. That was a good hook. A willful hook – one that won’t let you down, but rather lifts you up.

Get hooked! Get hooked on Jesus right now! Can you say amen?
