Wrestlers compete in tournament, dual meet
Tyson Gilland placed third at 135 lbs., and sophomore Evan Harrison scored his first-ever tournament place with a fourth place finish at 130 lbs. Also for the Tigers, Ryan Scarboro finished 4-1 at 103 lbs; John Lovvorn finished 3-2 at 119 lbs.; Josh Cosby went 4-1 at 125 lbs.; and Trey McCants went 4-1 at 152 lbs. Dual Meet Results: W-WCHS went 2-3 in dual meets the last two weeks. The Tigers are limited by injuries to varsity regulars Josh Dobbs, DJ Willis, Dywane Hampton, and Brandon Howard. Middle School Results: On December 12 the Washington- Wilkes Middle School wrestlers defeated Oglethorpe County and Greenbrier. Middle School winners with two wins were Terrence Walton, Devinn Ferris, James McAvoy, and David Martin Also scoring wins for the middle school were Josh Eskew, Will Lawson, Axll McCarty, and Matthew Howard. The Washington-Wilkes team defeated Elbert County on December 19. Winners for the Tigers were Terrence Walton, Rob Lovvorn, Josh Eskew, David Martin, Devinn Ferris, James McAvoy, Chad Cordell, and Matthew Howard.
The middle school team remains undefeated for the year.
