The old oak on The Square is no more. The day after Christmas, Washington city crews manned a bucket truck and began to carefully cut branches and limbs piece by piece around the sides of the tree. With music provided by piano player Teresa Bishop (right), the club divided into to teams led by President Tammy Bryngelson and Vice President-elect Joey Fievet. Funeral services for Willie Robert King, 72, of Hickory Hill Dr., Washington, were held Thursday, December 28, 2006, at the Hilliard Station Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Dwight Foster officiating and Rev. Larry Norman, eulogist. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Saturday, December 23, 2006, at the Select Hospital, Augusta. More...

Both students are graduates of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School.
