I'm convinced you don't need to spend a lot of money on children. They are just as happy with a roll of Scotch tape. I took my three grandchildren to the store with me to buy tape. I left with four rolls of tape. They each had to have a roll. I didn't hear a word out of them. When we got home I found they had taped everything in my vehicle in reach of the car seats, but they were quiet and happy. Mike and Miriam Bobo of McDonough spent Christmas with Graydon and Pat Bobo. Spending Christmas weekend with Kay and Alex Tyler were Jeff Tyler of Washington, D.C.; Greg, Gena, Jordan, Caleb, and Sydney Tyler of Hoschton. Saturday night, December 23, they were joined by Craig, Sandra, Curt, Kara and Kaci Gammon, and Richard and Carolyn Gammon where they had dinner and exchanged gifts. Marjorie Gibson of Dallas spent the afternoon with Carolyn Gammon on Friday, December 22. She had come down to be with her mother, Lois Sale, and sister, Peggy Sale, from Thursday through Saturday. Joining them for lunch Saturday was Lois' granddaughter, Suzanne Wolfe of Matthews, N.C. Visiting with Dave and Tody Derrick during Christmas were Laura and Kathryn Ashe of Rock Hill, S.C.; Lauren and Sara Ashe of Greenville, S.C.; Mike Bruschi of Tucson, Arizona; B.K. Kennedy of Charlotte, N.C.; Mike, Sharon, Michael and David Derrick of Loganville. They were here not only to celebrate Christmas but also to celebrate Dave Derrick's birthday on December 29. Lois Sale has a new great-grandson, Jacob Banta, born on December 26 to Michelle and Josh Banta of Rockmart. Marjorie Sale Gibson is the maternal grandmother. Larry and Penny Fort just returned from a two-week family visiting trip to Arizona. Flying with Edna Lamar to Arizona to visit her daughter, Elizabeth Archer, were Edna's granddaughter, Tracy Beggs, and great-granddaughter, Erin Thornton. Let's continue praying for Elizabeth. She is home from the hospital and will be going through treatment soon. Daisy Parker entertained lots of family members over the Christmas holidays. On Friday before Christmas, Brandi, Ashley, and Abe Manneh of Douglasville, and Jen, Patrick, Justin and Jeremy Hammond of Madison came for a Christmas get-together and the exchanging of gifts. On Saturday before Christmas, Pam, Philip, Amanda, Abigail, Paul, and Virginia Barnwell and a friend, Carrie, all from Texas came and stayed until Saturday before New Year's Day. Marie and Steven Messer visited too during the holidays. On Christmas Day, Daisy's daughters and their families and Jack and Jean Rhodes spent the day. Clyde and Sandy Whittington visited Sunday afternoon. Thirty-one members of the Tignall Baptist youth group and chaperones enjoyed a ski trip to Sugar Mountain last week. They were there from Thursday to Saturday. Thankfully there were no major injuries. Scott, Kathy and Stacey Ware spent Saturday, December 23, in Hartwell with Scott's biological brothers, Bobby Howell and his daughter Kaitlyn, and Davin Howell. They also spent some time with his biological grandmother whom they call Grammy. Spending Christmas Eve night with Robin and Gene Turner were Michael, Marie, and Cole Turner of Hartwell. I know Johnny and Brenda Truitt were happy to have Wendy home for Christmas. On Sunday, December 17, Kathryn Anderson had her family over for their family Christmas. Those enjoying this family gathering were James and Billie Ann Smith, Jamie, Jeri, Emmy and Shelly Smith, Jeff Anderson, Linda Oliver of Lexington, S.C., Christopher and Vera Edenfield of Lexington, S.C., Joanne Neville, Katie Anderson of Statesboro, and Chris Wilson of Statesboro. Kathryn spent Tuesday til Christmas Day with Linda Oliver in Lexington, S.C. Pam and Larry Pullen had their family Christmas gathering on Saturday, December 23. Family members visiting were Jeremy, Stephanie, Carson, Avery, and Sydney Pullen of Elberton; Josh, Lacey, and Jade Fincher, Almond Standard and Christine Burton. Terri and Bob White of Orange Park, Fla., had breakfast with Gloria and Layton Harris on Christmas Day. Gloria and Layton Harris had all their family members and friends with them for supper on December 22. This was also Jacob Harris' third birthday. He is Gloria and Layton's great-grandson of Cleveland. They enjoyed ice cream and cake prior to opening Christmas gifts. Gloria and Layton enjoyed supper Friday night, December 29, with Jack and Tommie Heard. Mary Will and Ralph Denard hosted an after Christmas supper on December 30 in their home. Those enjoying this occasion were Curtis and Robbie Tanner, Jo Ann Danner, Doris Smathers, Layton and Gloria Harris, Linda and Leon Aycock, Marion and Tony Hammond, Nancy and David Hilley, Vivianne and Bobby Wilson. Great food and fellowship were enjoyed by all. Lem and Ellen LeRoy of Charlotte, N.C., visited with Albert and Eudora Huyck during the Christmas holidays. I hope everyone made New Year's resolutions that they can keep. I heard that someone made resolutions that they could keep, like gaining at least five pounds. That would be an easy one.
