Anchored

In our front yard is a tree we planted several years ago and it has grown so slowly my wife said, "That tree is never going to amount to anything!"

I thought, "I might better hide the axe or she just might cut it down." But what she didn't realize was the fact that within two to four feet of the surface of the ground is a layer of lime rock which is unusual to be that close to the ground in our area.

So you see, that tree is taking its time because it is rooting itself in every crack and crevice in that lime rock, wrapping itself securely. That rock will be its anchor in the time of a storm.

I told my wife that if a tornado comes through that little tree may be the only thing left standing because it is grounded, it's anchored and the anchor holds.

This description of that tree is how we as Christians should be. We should be anchored securely in the faith - rooted and grounded in the truth. The truth, the anchor, the rock, Jesus Christ, our savior! Can you say amen?
