The Fortson House on the Tignall Road, home of Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Denard, was the scene of a festive Christmas party honoring Amy Lannae and John Broadnax III of Athens Saturday evening, December 16.

Hosts and hostesses with Mr. and Mrs. Denard were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Anthony, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Barnett, Mr. and Mrs. James Baston, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bennett, Mrs. Renee Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Crook, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Drinkard, Mrs. Deb Tally deShazo, Mr. and Mrs. Joey Fievet, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Hansford, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harvey, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Henderson, Mrs. Rosemary Hopkins, Mrs. Laura Houpt, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Keener, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kirkland, Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Lindsey, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Strother.

For the occasion the bride-elect wore a black strapless knee-length dress fashioned with a black lace overlay.

The home, porches, patios and gardens were traditionally decorated for the holiday event with fresh greenery, garlands, wreaths, fruit and candlelight.

As guests approached the Denard home, they crossed the front veranda and entered an inviting foyer where

an antique table held the guest book and displayed a silver framed photograph of the bridal couple. The photograph was flanked by two silver champagne buckets of fresh narcissus, winterberries, dendrobium orchids and greenery.

Delicious hors d'oeuvres were prepared by the hostesses from their special recipes and served from the dining table using silver and crystal appointments. Centering the table was a tall seasonal floral arrangement in a tall Waterford pedestal vase.

On the side patio, round guest tables were covered with white linens topped with silver gray damask. Each table was centered with a red candle and hurricane encircled with magnolia leaves and tea lights.

Miss Lannae and Mr. Broadnax presented each hostess a handmade candle.

Special guests for the occasion included parents of the engaged couple, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wells and Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Lannae of Washington; and Mr. and Mrs. John Broadnax Jr. of Athens; the bride-elect's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Herb Cole of Lafayette; and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wells of Washington. One hundred and fifty Washington Wilkes and out-of-town family members and guests were invited.
