HAMPTON All-NE Georgia HAMPTON All-NE Georgia Even though the Washington- Wilkes Tigers didn't make it to the state championship game again in 2006, a good number of players received prestigious post-season honors on both the Atlanta Journal- Constitution's All-State team and the Athens Banner-Herald's All- Northeast Georgia team.

Leading the list, of course, is Kelmetrus Wylie, who was the All- Northeast Georgia, all-classification Player of the Year. That story is printed separately on this page.

Wylie was also one of only two W-W Tigers on the All-State list - the other was senior linebacker Demont

Gresham. Both were first team selections and were the Tigers' only representatives on the All-State roster.

Wylie and Gresham are also on the All-Northeast Georgia roster as first team selections and joining them are Dan Wylie (the only junior on either roster), Gary Wilburn, and (on the second team) Dywane Hampton. The newspaper's listings describe its first team selections as follows:

OL Dan Wylie (junior, 6-2, 235). "Wylie graded at 90 percent and helped power the Tigers' potent rushing attack."

LB Demont Gresham (senior, 5- 10, 210). "Gresham had 126 tackles (11 for loss) and recovered four fumbles." DB Gary Wilburn (senior, 5-11, 185). "Wilburn broke up 16 passes and had three interceptions and played tight man defense."

WILBURN All-NE Georgia WILBURN All-NE Georgia In addition, four Tigers made the All-Northeast Georgia honorable mention list. Senior quarterback Clete Wilson, senior offensive lineman Quarica Smith, senior kicker Mark Tench, and senior defensive lineman Derron Walton were included.
