Tommy Harwell of Warrenton brought a real good message at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday. ..Bonnie Boatwright went up to Lexington Tuesday where she joined James and Kathleen Canup and Margaret Peterman to go to Elberton to play bingo at Wendy's. ..J.W. Boatwright has been a bit under the weather with the flu for the last few days. ..Bonnie Boatwright joined her sister, Martha Jones of Bogart, and her brother, James Smith of Stephens, Monday of last week for a delicious lunch at Hogan's Store. We enjoyed seeing one of my classmates, Jane Buckman Ridgeway, and her husband Ted, who also came in to eat. It was also good to chat with Virgil Caldwell (who does the cooking there) and catch up on all the news of Oglethorpe County. James, Martha and I then went over to Burt's Church and took the Christmas flowers off the graves of our daddy and mama, Bob and Lois Smith, and put spring flowers on. We also did a little sightseeing in the Veribest and Enterprise community. We were glad to see Larry Smith in his yard and to chat with him for a while. .. Martha Jones of Bogart came down Saturday and joined Bonnie Boatwright to go over to Tignall to join Jack and Jean Rhodes to go to Abbeville, S.C., to see the play, "Honky Tonk Angels," at the Opera House. On their way to the play they stopped at Yoder's Restaurant in Abbeville where they joined other members of the Learning In Retirement group from Wilkes County for a wonderful lunch. The play was very good and was enjoyed by everyone. ..The prayer list is for Preston and Joyce Fry's daughter Becky, Bill Remsen, Thelma Favor, Annie Blanche Vaughn, Marshall Sherrer, Gary Rogers, Mike Webb, Kathryn Padgett, Robert A. Roper, Stephanie Chapman, Mario's baby, Dorothy Callaway, Pete Poss, Thomas Wheatley, Tommy Wheatley, Thomas Bunch, Charles Bradford, Richard Burkett, James Bowen, Connie Burt Colquitt, Beth Thaxton, Elizabeth Smith, Ralph Smith, and Ellie Frey. ..Richard Burkett is in the MCG hospital in Augusta in serious condition after suffering a heart attack last Tuesday. Our prayers are for a quick and complete recovery. ..Bill Remsen is having surgery today (Monday) on the vertebrae in his neck after it was postponed from last Thursday due to unforeseen circumstances. Our prayers are with him for a quick recovery. ..Peggy Echols spent last Wednesday in Stephens with her sister, Sybil Hayes. ..Sybil Vaughn celebrated her 87th birthday Sunday. Roselle Burt of Augusta came and joined Sybil and Betty Berry at Betty's house for a delicious barbecue dinner. Donnie and Kris Berry and Tom Parker came in the afternoon and brought a birthday cake and all of them enjoyed it with ice cream. ..Lila Hosting celebrated her seventh birthday Sunday by going to the movies in Athens with her family, Lee and Shelley Parker, Bradley and Tristan, and Sandra Parker. ..Buck and Linda Echols' spendthe day company Sunday were Greg and Angela Armour, Samantha, Cody and Hunter, Will Callaway, Scott and Sissy Smith, Abby and J.T., and Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank. ..Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson spent Sunday with Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey. Bonnie Boatwright visited them in the afternoon and also visited Johnny Boatwright. ..At this writing on Monday, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith is in St. Mary's Hospital in Athens and Ralph Smith is in Athens Regional Medical Center. Our prayers are for them both to be better soon. ..George and Ann Wideman's company of the week were Gene Winfrey, Tom Hardy, Leeman and Mary Stewart, James, David, Mathew, and Watson Wideman. ..Johnny and Kathryn Shedd had Sunday dinner with Tim and Gail Stewart and Alyssa. ..Mrs. Bobby Armour and Mrs. Frances Fendley visited Richard Burkett Thursday in the MCG hospital in Augusta. ..Mr. and Mrs. George Casey and Mrs. Frances Fendley visited Richard Burkett at the MCG hospital.
