Funeral services for Estella Broadnax Gates of Jacksonville, Fla., were held Saturday, January 20, 2007, in the Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. David Lattimore Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville. She died January 16.

Mrs. Gates was a native of Wilkes County and had lived in Jacksonville for many years. She was the widow of Charlie Gates and was a member of the Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church. She was selfemployed in the agricultural industry until she retired after many years of service. She was a member of District #5, Sunday School teacher, and the retired senior volunteer program.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Shirley Ann Goodman; two great-grandchildren, Chrisy Murphy and Doris Goodman; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Alphonso West Mortuary Inc. of Jacksonville was in charge of arrangements.
