Peter Osborne Holliday Jr.
A memorial service for Dr. Peter Osborne Holliday Jr., 85, of Macon was held Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at the High Street Unitarian Church in Macon . Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Macon. He died Saturday, January 20.
Dr. Holliday has family connections with the Wilkes County Hollidays. He was born in Macon to the late Judge Peter Osborne and Martha Elizabeth Riley Holliday. He received his DDS from Emory University in 1945 and served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy attached to the Fleet Marines in North China until 1947. He practiced dentistry in Macon from 1947 until 2007. His son Lindsay joined him in practice in 1983, and they founded Holliday Dental Associates. He served the American Dental Association through numerous local and state offices, and served as president of the Georgia Dental Association in 1978.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Lucille Dozier Holliday of Macon; two sons, Dr. Peter Osborne Holliday III, and Dr. Lindsay Dozier Holliday of Macon; two daughters, Lucy Riley Holliday of Macon, and Mary Dozier Holliday Byrd of Nashville, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.
