Reception

The room was beautifully decorated with Christmas greenery, Battenburg lace cloths and pillar candles in hurricane globes by friends, Audrea Ezzell and Vickie Burk of Washington, and the bride's aunt, Martha Russell of Conyers.

Here the bride and bridegroom participated in the German tradition of working together by sawing a log in half with a two-man cross cut timber saw. The father of the bridegroom provided the saw, log and stand. Groomsmen sat atop the log as the couple performed this first act of cooperative work together.

They then celebrated by cutting the bride's cake made by Vickie Burk and Pat Tippins of Washington.

After a toast they cut the 14-layer chocolate bridegroom's cake made by his mother.

Food for the reception was catered by the bride's father, owner of Frank's Barbeque in Hoschton.

The couple was showered with flower petals as they left to enjoy a quiet honeymoon in North Carolina.
