A father thanks first responders for quick rescue

TO THE EDITOR:

It is with my deepest heartfelt thanks that I pen these few lines to thank all of the many unnamed persons who stopped to assist my son Chris and his friends in their automobile accident Saturday afternoon on Highway 44 west of Washington.

Their help and the astonishing quickness of the first responders, the many EMTs and paramedics who take this as their "job" and daily routine (which is far, far from just a job) are and should be a pride of our community. Their training so often goes unnoticed until needed.

Even though high winds in the area prevented helicopters from landing nearby, there was a coordination amazing to hear of that lifeflighted there young people to MCG. Especially noteworthy was the quickness of notifying relatives which enabled us and the other families to make our way to Augusta to be near our loved ones.

Please include a prayer for the speedy recovery of all involved, for it is only by the grace of God that injuries were no more severe.

Again, thank you all for doing "your job."
