      "We really need to win all four," Head Coach Don Keiser said, looking ahead to the final games of the regular basketball season. If they do, the Washington-Wilkes Tigers will definitely host the first round of the playoffs and the early opponents will be a lot easier to beat.

Wrestlers post team, individual wins; will host Towns Co., Winder-Barrow
      Washington-Wilkes Tiger wrestlers found a groove in action last week as they notched some strong victories both individually and as a team. John Lovvorn and Tyson Gilland each won first place at the Redskin Rumble hosted by Social Circle involving a total of 13 competing teams. And as a team, the Tigers swept a four-way meet on Tuesday, January 23, at Eagles Landing Christian Academy.

Batrous scores 1,000th point for Briarwood Runnin' Bucs, leads team to another victory
      Joseph Batrous, a senior at Briarwood Academy, scored his 1000th career point in basketball action last week as he led the Briarwood Runnin' Bucs to an important GISA Region 1AA win over Westminster Christian Academy in Watkinsville. Batrous scored 30 points in the comeback win, which pitted him against former Buc teammate and Washington resident, Jeff Hansford, now of Watkinsville.

Adult softball registration underway, will end Feb. 23
      The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department's 2007 adult softball program has been open for registration all this month and will continue to be so until Friday, February 23. Team registration is $260.00 for the season and signup hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Registration for Little League begins Feb. 5 at Ashley Park
      Registration for the Washington- Wilkes Little League 2007 program will begin Monday, February 5, and continue through Saturday, February 24. The program is for boys and girls baseball and also includes girls softball. Ages for the boys and girls baseball are five through 15 years old and girls softball is for ages nine through 16.
