Our community was deeply saddened by the death of Mrs. Ruth Hopkins Thursday morning. Many relatives and friends attended her graveside services at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Saturday afternoon. She and Theodore attended Clifford's Grove and after his death she continued to attend until she moved to Rayle several years ago. Ruth was a sweet lady and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. ..Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer went to Beggs Funeral Home in Lincolnton Friday night to be with the family of Mrs. Ruth Hopkins.

..Mrs. Charles Hopkins of Elberton and Mrs. Roch Filipiak spent the day Friday with Mrs. Iris Dyson. ..Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer and Willard Lance attended the regular monthly Gideon meeting and supper at the Home Café Thursday night. ..Mrs. Gail Hammock of Warwick spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ricky McCarty. ..Tad Hopkins of Smyrna visited his grandmother, Mrs. Iris Dyson, Sunday afternoon. ..Mrs. Bill Scoggins of Augusta spent the week with Mrs. Evans Davis. ..Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance attended services at Jennings Baptist Church in Taliaferro County Sunday. Willard's brother, Rev. John Lance, is pastor. The guest speaker was Gideon Milton Broome. ..On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer joined members and guests at Wilkes County Baptist Church for the delicious covered dish meal honoring Mr. and Mrs. Scott Ware who recently joined the church.
