Washington songwriter Hillary Lindsey up for two GRAMMY awards Sun. night

"GRAMMY Sunday"" February 11 is Hillary Lindsey's big day.

Her song, "Jesus Take the Wheel," written by Lindsey along with Gordie Sampson and Brett James, received nominations in two GRAMMY categories. The song was nominated as Country Song of the Year and as the overall Song of the Year.

Final awards will be presented Sunday during the 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The program will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8-11:30 p.m.

Lindsey is a native of Washington and daughter of Ricky and Kathy Lindsey. Being nominated for these awards, she joins an elite group of artists, writers, and performers.

This week, Ricky and Kathy Lindsey were interviewed by Bridget Williams, news director for the WAGT Faith Series, Channel 8.

The interview will be aired Friday night, February 9, at 6 p.m., and again on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The Washington Foundation for Art and Music will be featuring Lindsey during the Washington festival during the weekend of April 28.The performing artist will be presenting a concert with proceeds going to purchase band instruments for middle school students. These instruments will provide an opportunity for students who cannot purchase instruments to be a part of the band program in the school and the instrument will follow the student throughout his high school years in the band.
