Ashley Branan entertained at miscellaneous shower Feb. 3
Ashley Branan, bride-elect of Brad Sheffield, was honored with a miscellaneous shower on Saturday, February 3, at the home of Mrs. William C. Johnson on East Robert Toombs Avenue. Joining Mrs. Johnson in entertaining were Mrs. W.F. Lindsey, Mrs. M. C. Adair, Mrs. William Smith, Mrs. Pauline Bell and Mrs. Olin Newby.
For the occasion the bride-elect wore a winter white beaded skirt and matching sweater. The hostesses presented her a corsage of white freesia, fern and tulle with coordinating ribbon.
Miss Branan and her mother, Mrs. William C. Branan, greeted guests in the foyer and then invited guests into the dining room where a beautifully appointed table welcomed them.
The dining table was covered with an elegant cutwork and embroidered linen cloth and centered with an etched crystal vase filled with Rubrum lilies. Guests enjoyed cheese straws, pecan tassies, party sandwiches of ham salad and tomato, divinity and cake squares served from silver appointments. Hot spiced cider was served from the silver tea service.
The hostesses presented the brideelect a dinner plate in her formal pattern. She in turn thanked her hostesses as she presented each a travel beverage mug, banana nut muffins, hot chocolate mix, peppermints and chocolates neatly packaged for each hostess to use on a busy morning.
Fifty-five guests from Washington and the surrounding area were invited to the shower. Special guests included the bride-elect's mother, Mrs. William C. Branan of Washington, and sister, Mrs. Bobby Williamson of Martinez.
