      Dorothy Elise Hearn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gil Hearn of Dunwoody, celebrated her second birthday with a party for close friends and family on Saturday, February 3.       Dalton and Douglas Walker celebrated their tenth birthdays with a party at Pump It Up in Athens on Saturday, February 10. The boys, sons of Robert and Paula Stevens, have a January 2 birthday. After Dalton and Douglas and their friends enjoyed the festivities on the inflatables in both party rooms, they gathered in the refreshment area for birthday cake, ice cream and drinks.

      Anne Marie Burriss, daughter of Trevin and Tracie Burriss, celebrated her fifth birthday on February 5 and was treated on several occasions. Anne Marie celebrated with her brother, Thomas, who was eight years old on January 27, with a family party at their home on February 3.

Joshua Cobb celebrates with family and friends
      Joshua Ethan Cobb, son of David and Jessica Cobb, celebrated his fourth birthday on February 10 with a surprise party at Harvest Time Christian Center. Joshua and his guests enjoyed his pirate ship cake with ice cream, chips, cookies and punch amid party decorations that included balloons and other Happy Birthday accents. Joshua was presented a special pirate bandana and eye patch.

      William Hunter Callaway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Callaway of Rayle, was eight years old on February 11 and celebrated on several occasions. Hunter and his father, whose birthday was February 8, celebrated with a pizza party at home on Friday, February 9. Joining Hunter and his father were family members.

Mabel Johnson honored at family luncheon Feb. 17
      Mabel Ware Johnson was honored on her 92nd birthday, Saturday, February 17, at a family luncheon hosted by her daughter and son-inlaw, Emilie and Mark Waters, at their home on East Robert Toombs Avenue. Family gathered in the dining room where the table was set with formal china in honor of the event. Camellias were used in decorating in addition to bouquets of tulips and roses.

Martin children celebrate birthdays
      David, DJ and Jack Martin were honored at birthday celebrations given by their parents, David and Joy Martin of Tignall. David, whose 13th birthday was December 29, celebrated with the youth group at Tignall Baptist Church when they spent the weekend skiing at Sugar Mountain in North Carolina. A good time of fellowship was enjoyed by all in the group.

Jordan Myles Dawson
      Mr. and Mrs. Myles Dawson of Tignall announce the birth of their son, Jordan Myles, on Monday, February 12, at University Hospital in Augusta. Jordan Myles is named for his father and his maternal greatgrandfather, Roy Jordan Harrison. Jordan weighed 7 lbs. 7 ½ ozs. and was 20 inches long. He has a sister, Whitney Elizabeth, who is four years old.

Clay, son of Edward and Susan Armour Coulston of C e n t r e v i l l e , Md., is a senior in Landscape Architecture with a minor in Environmental Sciences earning academic honors with a 3.6 out of a possible 4.0 GPA.

Duggan Scholarship Dinner held Feb. 12 at Woman's Club
      A capacity crowd filled the Woman's Club building on Monday evening, February 12, for the annual John Duggan Memorial Scholarship Dinner sponsored by the Washington Woman's Club. The scholarship in John's memory is awarded each year and the dinner raises funds for it. John, son of Dr. and Mrs. Dan Duggan, died of cancer at the age of 18.

Dancers attend workshop, competition
     Selected students from the Washington Dance Academy attended Dance Makers Inc. workshop and Competition in Columbia, S.C., February 2-4. They learned new techniques and routines from professional dance teachers and studio owners from Los Angeles, New York, Texas, and Florida. The students look forward to attending more workshops this summer and fall. They were accompanied by their instructors, Cynthia Aultman (left) and Louann Brown. Students attending were Breckyn Hudson, Emily Royal, Emily Shiffner, Gerica Sims, and Jessica Spradlin.

      Shirley Noggle and Norma Pittman presented a most interesting and informative program at the meeting of the Iris Garden Club Tuesday, February 13, at the Parish Hall. Mrs. Noggle and Mrs. Pittman, members of the Sharon-Raytown Garden Club, spoke on growing chrysanthemums and their club's award winning by-yearly chrysanthemum show. Joshua Welch of Rayle named national science award winner
      Joshua Welch of Rayle has been named a United States National Award Winner in Science by the United States Achievement Academy (USAA.) The USAA recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students and is a prestigious honor. Joshua is the son of Bob and Charlotte Welch of Rayle and is a student at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School.

Homemakers' first '07 meeting held February 15
      As the January meeting had to be cancelled because of bad weather, the first regular Tignall Homemakers meeting of 2007 was held on Thursday, February 15, at the library. The president, Pat Mack, led the pledge of allegiance to the flag and welcomed new members, Sara Frances Henderson, Margaret Fortson, and Marilyn Summerlin.
