Wilkes future business leaders celebrate national FBLA week

The Future Business Leaders of America chapter at Washington- Wilkes Comprehensive High School has been busy competing at the district level and celebrating during National FBLA week.

In January, several members of the Washington-Wilkes chapter of FBLA participated at the district level in various computer and business related competitions. Members receiving awards and advancing to the state level are Blake Rogers, first place in business math; Jessica Spradlin, second place in business math; John Lovvorn, second place in Future Business Leader; Katie Haughey and Kelley Roberts, fourth place in desktop publishing. Members advancing to the State level will be competing in Athens on March 16-17. Keyona Wynn also placed fourth in Word Processing I.

The week of February 19-23 was National FBLA Week. To celebrate, the chapter planned special events for each day. Friday, February 17, FBLA members put cake in the teacher workroom for Teacher Appreciation Day. On Tuesday, February 20, members participated in Professional Dress Day, in which members dressed up in their intended profession's attire. On Wednesday, members dressed in the colors of their favorite college sports team for College Day. Thursday was Member Appreciation Day and the members wore their chapter t-shirts, which were designed by Alexis Cantey. The chapter adviser, Amy Harkins, also treated the members to pizza. Friday members celebrated Blue and Gold Day, recognizing the official colors of FBLA.
