Alexius Thomas, a fourth grade student at Washington-Wilkes Elementary School, won the 2007 Safety Belt Poster Contest sponsored by Georgia Power. The theme for Alexius' poster was "Why you should use seatbelts." School Counselor Debra Harper commented by saying, "Alexius was chosen as our school's winner because her poster was an original drawing that portrayed a positive message to encourage the use of seat belts and child safety seats. We are very proud of her."
