Funeral services for Doris Yvonne Hawkins Booker, 78, were held Saturday, March 10, 2007, at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Charles Henderson officiating. Interment was in City West Cemetery, Washington. She died Tuesday, March 6.

Mrs. Booker was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of Albert Hawkins and Ida Mae Evans. She was the widow of Enoch John Booker. She attended Springfield Baptist Church at an early age and later united with Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mrs. Booker was the valedictorian of her high school Class of 1945, and was a lifelong member of Shiloh Academy #50, Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Yvonne and Ida Ann; a son and daughter-in-law, Robin and Enoch Booker Jr.; two sons-in-law, Roger Harper and Will Lee Mance; five grandsons, Gregory Harper, Stacey T. Mahoney, Marion Mahoney Jr., Gavin "Murray" Harper, and Thomas Booker; three great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Irene Mills and Evelyn Ware.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
