Ashley Branan, bride-elect of Brad Sheffield of Athens, was feted at a Basket, Bag and Bowl Shower on Saturday morning, March 10, at the home of Barbara Roberts on Poplar Drive. Joining Mrs. Roberts in entertaining were Katie Bailey of Anderson, S.C., Carol Jackson, Claunette Morgan, Amelia Wheatley, Nancy Madden, Carol Souther and Sandra Gammon.

Miss Branan was lovely in a spring ensemble that included a soft ¾ sleeve white blouse over a black and white polka dot skirt. Open Vtoed black and white polka dot pumps completed her attire. She was presented a corsage of white rosebuds.

Mrs. Bailey greeted guests at the door and invited them to register in the bride's wedding keepsake scrapbook.

The house was beautifully decorated with camellias in shades of pink, rose and white. Camellias in these shades floating in a tray centered the dining table from which guests enjoyed delicious party foods and punch. A side pedestal held a bouquet of multi-colored roses.

Invitations to the shower included a recipe card. Guests were encouraged to fill out the card with a favorite recipe and include it in a special basket, bag or bowl filled with utensils and ingredients to make the dish. These creative gifts were displayed on tables in the sunroom.

The hostesses presented Miss Branan a recipe box to file the recipes, a cornbread pan, and a trifle bowl with eight accompanying dessert dishes.

Miss Branan presented her hostesses personalized travel mugs and loaves of bread.

Sixty guests were invited. Special guests attending included her mother, Susan Branan of Washington, and the prospective bridegroom's mother, Sharon Sheffield of Screven. Ann Payne of Arnoldsville was also an out-oftown guest.
