Steve and Gina Broome honored at 25th anniversary reception Mar. 25
Steve and Gina Broome Steve and Gina Broome were honored on the occasion of their 25th Wedding Anniversary at a reception Sunday, March 25, at the VFW in Washington. Hosts for the occasion were their children, Stephen and Jason Broome; her parents, Gene and Linda Stevens, all of Washington; her brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Carla Stevens of Gibson, and an aunt, Laura Smathers of Washington.
Mr. and Mrs. Broome were married at the Washington Presbyterian Church on March 26, l982.
For the afternoon reception, Mrs. Broome was lovely in a red twopiece dress fashioned with a beaded design on the jacket collar and pockets. She was presented a corsage of white silk roses tied with sheer white ribbon. Mr. Broome was presented a white rose boutonniere.
The entrance was marked with hanging silver 25th streamers. Guests were welcomed by Stephen and Jason Broome, Gene Stevens and Philip Stevens.
As guests entered the hall, they signed the register at a table overlaid in white and decorated with pictures of the guests of honor before their marriage and after, and a plume pen. In addition, a silver framed picture of the guests of honor, presented to the couple from their children, was placed on this table.
The buffet tables were covered in white and featured an elegant airy arrangement of stock and snapdragons, calla lilies, daisies, carnations and mixed greenery. From the buffet, guests enjoyed a delicious array of party foods prepared by the hosts.
The punch table, also overlaid in white, featured a 25th Anniversary Gleam and Burst centerpiece. A cousin, DeAndra Lanier of Union Point, served punch from a cut glass punch bowl.
A white cloth overlaid the cake table that held the three-layered anniversary cake. A silver 25th anniversary crest with two wedding bells below topped the cake that also displayed rose accents and green ivy. Two miniature three-layered candles in the shape of wedding cakes decorated the cake table. A cousin, Deborah Wofford of Comer, served the cake.
Tables for guests' seating were overlaid in white. Each held a white, floating rose candle in a crystal bowl on one end and a silver doily with miniature silver champagne glasses, mints and silver rings on the other.
A CD of love songs from 25 years ago played in the background throughout the afternoon. The CD was one of the gifts from Mrs. Broome's parents.
The hosts and servers wore matching corsages and boutonnieres.
Before the reception, Mrs. Broome presented the servers, her mother, sister-in-law and aunt with miniature silver baskets. Inside each basket was a small red bag that held a lovely silver necklace.
Approximately 75 guests attended during the afternoon. Out-of-town guests attending included Deborah Wofford of Comer, Steve and DeAndra Lanier, Richard and Belle Dingler and Ricky and Jan Dingler, all of Union Point, Mac and Brandi Morgan of Athens, Philip and Carla Stevens, Cole and Chesnie, and Ronnie and Annette Pittman, all of Gibson, Joyce Buffington of Elberton, Rhett, Jill and Clint Long and Betty Ann and Jerry Stevens, all of McDonough, Lee and Lisa Morison of Martinez and LuAnn Holmes of Trenton, S.C.
