Linton Wood Stalnaker
Funeral services for Linton Wood "Stoney" Stalnaker, 65, of Washington, were held Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Big Cedar Road, Washington, with Rev. R.C. Lockhart officiating. Interment was in City West Cemetery, Washington. He died April 9 at the University Hospital, Augusta.
Mr. Stalnaker was a native of Wilkes County and the son of Annie Mae Stalnaker and the late Linton W. Stalnaker. He was a member of Gibson Grove Baptist Church. His wife was the late Clara Mae Fuller. He was the greenskeeper at the Washington-Wilkes Country Club for 47 years.
Survivors in addition to his mother include six children, Melissa Stalnaker Burley, Augusta, Helen "Rose" Mills, North Augusta, S.C., Cliff Stalnaker, Washington, Sgt. 1st Class Keith Stalnaker, Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri, Linda Blackmon, Washington, and Jennifer Taylor, Thomson; a sister, Gladys Shephard, Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, Jessie Ramon Stalnaker, Atlanta; two granddaughters raised in the home, Wentasha Ashmore of Atlanta and Haiti Norman, North Augusta; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren
Pallbearers included Timothy Fuller, Leroy Burley, Charlie Crew, and Willie Crew.
McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
