A my Treadwell from the Wilkes County Unit of the Georgia Forestry Commission is expected home Thursday (May 3) after two weeks in Waycross with the Forestry Commission's Emergency Management Team. Hillary Lindsey's concert last Saturday night was the best thing that has happened here for a long time. It was first class from start to finish and only those who attended can fully appreciate what it meant to this community. Funeral services for Frank "Boss" Fanning, 97, were held Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Twin Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Maddox officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died Wednesday, April 25, at his residence. Mr. Fanning was a native and lifelong resident of Wilkes County. He was the son of the late Howard B. Fanning and Sue Willis Fanning. More...
