Georgia Baptist Assoc. gathers for 17th inspirational meeting

2007-05-03 / Worship

When the Georgia Baptist Association (GBA) met with Beaverdam Baptist Church April 24 for the 17th in- spirational meeting, those in attendance heard reports of the work of the Association from Rev. James Bland, Director; Jay Beeland on Camp Daniel Marshall; and others. They also heard an inspiring sermon by Rev. David Jordan, pastor of Penfield Baptist Church and counselor at Penfield Christian Home.

After the call to order by Dr. Norman Waldrip, moderator, Rev. John McMillian, pastor of Beaverdam, welcomed everyone, read Scripture and led in prayer.

Lauree Shelton, GBA clerk and secretary, registered 56 messengers and visitors from the 47 churches in the Georgia Baptist Association.

Everyone also enjoyed beautiful singing by Rev. Stephen Rayner, pastor of Rehoboth Baptist Church, and congregational singing led by Alan Ivey, song leader at Rehoboth Baptist Church, accompanied by William Morrison at the piano.

The meeting adjourned after the singing of the GBA Missions Hymn, "Workers Together."

Rev. McMillian invited everyone to have refreshments. He also asked that all be in prayer for Richard Byrd, Beaverdam's chairman of the deacons, who remained in the hospital after suffering a heart attack a week earlier.
