Four Tigers qualify for state in 7 events and will compete in Jefferson May 10-12

Tiger athletes claimed six first places at the region track meet and four will be advancing to the state

meet this week. (Low-res photos provided by W-WCHS) The Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School boys track and field team took second place at the region track meet held Monday, April 30. Tiger competitors captured six first place finishes at the meet and four athletes will be advancing to the state meet to be held in Jefferson today through Saturday, May 10-12.

Region Meet results are as follows:

100M - Kelmetrus Wylie, first place

200M - Kelmetrus Wylie, second place

800M - Dwayne Hampton, sixth place

1600M - Ian Coe, fifth place

3200M - Ian Coe, first place

110M Hurdles - Chris Kemp, sixth place

300M Hurdles - Chris Kemp, sixth place

Long Jump - Gary Wilburn, first place; Kelmetrus Wylie, fifth place

Triple Jump - Gary Wilburn, first place

Shot Put - Dan Wylie, first place

Discus - Dan Wylie, first place; Ricardo Davis, third place

Kelmetrus Wylie (100M and 200M), Gary Wilburn (long jump and triple jump), Dan Wylie (shot put and discus), and Ian Coe (3200M) will be competing in the state meet this week.
