I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend. Although several members were sick and not able to be out, we missed them at church. Rev. and Mrs. Martin were feeling better and he preached a good message from Acts 4:5-13. We sang several patriotic songs and Karmen Moon sang "God Bless America." We were glad to have her and little Samuel back with us. ..On the back of the bulletin at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Sunday was a long poem, "What Heroes Gave." The last two lines were: "These brave men fought for a nation free. If not for them, where would we be?" That is so true. We need to support our troops and pray for them daily. ..Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer were invited to join seniors at Tignall Baptist Church Tuesday for lunch and to hear Carolyn Gammon tell about their trip to Ireland with Nita Riley. The salad lunch was delicious and everyone enjoyed hearing Carolyn talk about their experiences in Ireland.

..The lovely home of Jamie and Jennifer Atkinson in Washington was the scene Saturday evening of a delightful holiday cookout. James and Samille Sherrer, Iris Dyson, Willard and Sue Lance and their family, were among the many friends, family and neighbors who enjoyed the good food and fellowship. ..Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance during the weekend wee Mr. and Mrs. Charles Foxworth who recently moved to Rome from Morganton, N.C.; Elizabeth Barber and Chris Conway of Athens.
