Rev. and Mrs. Albert Huyck were our guests at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday. Rev. Huyck filled the pulpit in the absence of Dr. Dupree. His message was taken from I Peter. .Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there. And "kids," try to visit or talk to your fathers often. They won't be on earth forever. .Sincere sympathy to Linda Battle in the loss of her mother recently. Our prayers are with her. .We are thankful for the sprinkle last week. Let's pray for more. .Happy birthday to all who are celebrating birthdays this week. Miss Grace Dunaway will be 80 on June 12. Betty Moore Adams and twin sister, Betty Moore, celebrated one on June 11. Their sister, Jean M. Steed, celebrated one on June 9; and Karen Ray, June 10. .Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips and Becky Phillips of Conyers spent Monday through Friday at Myrtle Beach, S.C. Stephanie Haynes, Skip and Skyla spent Sunday and Sunday night with the Phillipses. .We are sorry to hear that Florence Turpin Ingram is a patient at University Hospital in Augusta. We hope she gets better real soon as she is very ill. She was in Wills Memorial for a few days and then transferred to University. .The John Augustus Turpin and Hulda Kansas Burrell reunion will be June 24 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Come and bring a picnic lunch and join in the fun and fellowship. If you would like to know more, call Mrs. Sara Huff at 678-1452. .Miss Grace Dunaway celebrated her birthday Saturday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Her family, all her brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews joined her for a covered dish meal. The sisters and brothers were Louise D. Burt, Bonnie D. Brown, Flora Ann D. McGill, Billy Dunnaway, Tommy Dunnaway, and Alex Dunaway. Their niece, Beverly Teasley, celebrated the big 60. Sara Huff and Linda Standard also attended. All had a great time. .Cassie Goldman and Bryson spent Sunday with her mother, Deanne Johnson, in Hull. They attended church together. .Sara Huff, Mary Vandiver, and Linda Standard attended a "Send Off" program and party for their preacher, Craig Yoshira, who will be moving to Roswell United Methodist Church. We send him our best wishes for him and his family. .I went to Greenwood, S.C., Thursday to visit my cousin, Penny Pinson, who has a reoccurrence of cancer and is terminally ill. His wife, Sylvia, also is a cancer patient. Her sister and his daughters are helping take care of them. .Visitors of Grace and Alec Dunaway last week were Linda Standard, Sara Huff, and Bobbi Thornton. .Burt Newsome spent several days with friends at Tybee Island last week. He then visited the Dragons in Augusta, returning home Sunday afternoon. .Along with Shannon Thommason, Wes Butler, and Nan and Richard Goff of McCormick, I visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wallace Sunday. Mr. Wallace has not been feeling well and had to be taken to University Hospital in Augusta later in the day. . Our prayer concerns include Henry Wallace, William Johnson, Wilma Bunch, Joyce Bowen, Jenelle Newsome, Teresa Echols Bray, Willie Ruth Freeman, Marvin and Blanche Armour, Elmira Chafin, Irene Swann, Demastes grandson, Florence Ingram, Bonnie Boatwright, Frank Moon, Pete Hardy, Ed Burdette, Dot Shank, Ethel Harris, Lois South, Mona Hll, Lynn Wolfe, Mary Lou Stewart, Wade Palmer, Marjorie Morrow, Libby Ivey, Charles Elam, Jonathan Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy, Priscilla and Morrison Maxwell, our churches, our pastors, our military, and our government, the family of Sara Moss, and the family of Betty Jane Wright. .Happy birthday (belated) to my friend, Karen Ray, who celebrated on June 10. .I lost a set of keys Sunday evening at the Golden Pantry on the Lincolnton Road. Please, please call me if you findthem. . I am sick and tired of hearing about Paris HIlton, Anna Nichole Smith, and these crazy "fools" that make me and others sick to our stomachs. Please, let's hear something else on TV for a change. These "movie stars" need much prayer -- not media attention.
