Four Wilkes students receive Rosa G. Warthen scholarships

PAGE 2 THE LINCOLN Four college students have received Rosa Grant Warthen scholarship certificatesvalued at $100 each.

These students are Shaneka Norman, Shareka Norman, Melissa Hawes Bowman, and Stacia Stephens. The certificateswere presented Sunday, May 27, at the Reese J. Booker and Rosa Grant Warthen Memorial Service held at Mark's Tabernacle Baptist Church.

During the service, the devotional was led by Larry Smith, Thomas Gresham and others. Scripture was read by Kim Evans and Shawntay

JOURNAL, Lincolnton, Georgia - Doughty gave the welcome. Clara Sutton conducted the candlelight memorial service and presented the scholarships and acknowledgements.

Songs of inspiration were presented by Flint Hill's Male Choir, Mrs. Della Evans, and Reeves Chapel Baptist Church Choir. The sermon was preached by Rev. Michael W. Gresham. His text was from Matthew 6:32-33; and his subject was "Making a Move in the Right Direction."

More thank $500 was raised for the scholarship funds. Anyone interested in making a donation to either of the scholarship funds should make checks payable to the desired scholarship and mail to Clara Sutton, P.O. Box 261, Washington, Ga.30673.
