Combs family members gather for reunion at A.H. Stephens State Park

2007-06-14 / Personalities

More than thirty members of the Combs family met for a reunion Sunday, May 6, at A.H. Stephens State Park.

The reunion was organized after the urging of Jack Combs of Brookhaven, Miss., who had long wanted to meet his Georgia relatives.

Before, during and after the bountiful covered dish lunch served at 2 p.m., family members studied photos and various family documents supplied by several family historians that included Sara Jackson, Tommy Young, Katherine Bray, and Roy Stampley. The family was very grateful to Virgil Wolter for scanning hundreds of antique photos for distribution.

A wonderful time of fellowship was enjoyed.

Registering at the reunion were Jack (John) Combs of Brookhaven, Miss., his daughter, son-in-law and family, Bess, Reid, Marleen and Victor Chmielewski, of Atlanta; Jackie and Abdulla Al-Azawi and Nadia Al-Azawi of Duluth; Ivan De-Azuiar of Marietta; Katherine C. Bray and Susan Combs Aldrich of Milledgeville; Vivian and Roy Stampley of Augusta; Joan and John Combs of Harlem; Janet and Hubert Edwards of Athens; Barbara and Virgil Wolter, Sara and Tommie Jackson, Carmen and Tommy Young, Lucy and Charles Young, Tanya Smith, Joey Jackson, Shay Ramey, Russell Godwin, Anna Smith, Jeremy Wood, and Dell and Howard James, all of Washington.
