Lannae presents program at First Baptist

Cathy Lannae was guest speaker at the meeting of the Frances Wheelis Women on Mission on Monday evening, June 11, at the home of Kay Nelms.

Mrs. Lannae presented a most inspirational program on her battle with cancer and her faith stressing "Put your trust in God." She gave out information on ovarian cancer and encouraged everyone to be aware of the signs of this disease. Mrs. Lannae was introduced by Mrs. Nelms who led an opening prayer before the program.

Members adjourned to the breakfast room for delicious homemade peach ice cream made by Gail Hunter and enjoyed with assorted cookies provided by Mrs. Nelms.

After the time of fellowship, members had their business meeting led by Nancy Madden, facilitator.

Teresa Bishop read the WMU Watchword and the usual business followed.

Plans for mission action projects were made and a love gift was planned for James and Judy Bland who will soon be leaving Washington. Rev. Bland has served as Director of Missions for the Georgia Baptist Association for a number of years. Mrs. Bland is a member of the group.

Mrs. Bishop led the prayer calendar for missionaries with birthdays on June 11 and, after names of those with special needs were given, led in prayer.

Present with Mrs. Nelms were members, Melanie Wells, Susan Pope, Rosemary Hopkins, Teresa Bishop, Nancy Madden, Gail Hunter, Elizabeth Pope, Sue Lance and guests, Sharon Williamson and Mrs. Lannae.
