The Tignall community welcomes Larry and Shannon McDonald who have moved here from Duluth. They live on Dunk Hill Road off Newtown Road. Ruth Farish of Pensacola, Fla., Shannon's mother, has been visiting with Larry and Shannon. Ruth arrived in late April and will return to Pensacola June 30. While visiting here Ruth has enjoyed many of Wilkes County's historical sites. She has been seen having lunch on The Square in Washington several times. The Home Cafe has been a regular stopalong with the Kum Bak Cafe. Ruth has enjoyed auctions in Crawfordville and numerous trips to Athens. She has even found her a beautician here -- Billie Ann Smith -- who has fixed her hair for church on Sundays and she has enjoyed meeting many of the local ladies in Billie Ann's shop. Ruth was even seen taking a ride on one of Shannon's and Larry's horses. Oh yea, Ruth will celebrate her 88th birthday on June 26. If you happen to see this spry senior lady around, stop and say "Hi." .Mrs. Betty Nix of Clarkesville and Johnny Smallwood of alto visited Tuesday and Wednesday with Peggy and Donald Ware and Marianne Williams and Kason Bradley. .Scott, Kathy, and Stacy Ware had a cookout to celebrate Kathy's mom's birthday and Scott's mom's birthday and Father's Day for both their dads. There for the cookout were Paul and Gail Vandiver of Union Point (Kathy's parents;) Zack and Jennifer Etheridge, Mikie and Austin of Greensboro (Kathy's sister's family;) and Donald and Peggy Ware (Scott's parents.) .Christine Burton had surgery last week. Let's hope she is doing well. . Let's keep William Echols in our prayers as he is facing heart surgery. .Spending the day Sunday with Layton and Gloria Harris were Tracy, Marti, Taylor, and Tristan of Elberton; Tony Harris, Jacob and Dylan Harris of Cleveland; Debra and Amber Jordan, Heather Johnson, Derrick Harris of Greenwood; and Curtis and Robbie Tanner of Washington. .Alex and Kay Tyler and Greg and Gina Tyler, Jordan, Caleb, and Sydney of Hoschton met in Athens and had supper together to celebrate Father's Day and Greg's birthday. .Mike and Miriam Bobo of Mc- Donough spent the weekend with Graydon and Pat Bobo. .Frances Johnson of North Augusta came and went to church at Beulah Baptist with her mother, Sara Frances Henderson. Ed and Edna Rhodes invited Frances, Sara Frances, and Pat Mack to their home for a churn of ice cream Sunday night. Frances returned to North Augusta Monday. .People of Tignall Baptist Church were glad to see Corrie and Angie Newby and children of Blackshear at church Sunday.
.Special recognition was given to fathers on Sunday at Tignall Baptist Church. Those receiving boutonieres were the oldest dad, Wilbur Maney, the youngest dad, Josh Fincher, the dad with the most children, Mack Winfrey, and the dad who traveled the farthest to church, Chris Lane (all the way from Iraq.) The children's department presented a pen and a booklet of devotions to all men in the church. The best gift of all was the song sung by Shelbi Edmund, "Daddy's Hands." .Vacation Bible School at Tignall Baptist Church is this week. Bible School commencement will be Friday night at 7:30. Refreshments will be served afterward in the Family Life Center so finger foods and drinks are needed. .The names of JoAnn and Ben Danner of Tignall were omitted from the list of descendants in last week's paper attending the Wilkinson reunion
