RAYLE NEWS
I hope everyone had a nice Fourth of July holiday with celebrating, cookouts, and fireworks. I hope it was a safe one for everyone. .We enjoyed the nice little shower of rain we got last Monday afternoon. I enjoyed it so much while I sat on my porch and watched. We need more and many have not even gotten any. I would love for it to rain just a little shower every day without thunder and lightning at the same time so we could plan for it. .The Rayle Lunch and Learn met Wednesday, June 27, at the City Hall. After a wonderful program a delicious meal was enjoyed by all who attended. .Peggy Echols visited Bonnie Boatwright after Lunch and Learn and brought nice plates of food which she and J.W. enjoyed so much. .Kay Berry, Brook Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter visited J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright Wednesday evening. .Demetrice Porter, Brooke Berry, and Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter vacationed in Myrtle Beach, S.C., last week. .I really do not know much news at this time, but please continue to remember J.W. and me in your prayers because we will not know the results of radiation for about a month. I will also have a PET scan soon to see what the nodule on the lung is like. I have been pretty much under the weather since my treatments ended because we found out that things would get worse for the next week to 10 days before they start getting better. I still cannot talk and still have to eat soft foods. J.W. and I have appreciated every card, visit, phone call, kind act, and prayer. .Our prayers continue for Joyce Bowen in the Augusta hospital as she continues to improve. Our prayer is also for Joyce West of the Tyrone community who had surgery Wednesday in Augusta and came through it fine. Keep all the sick, bereaved, and all the servicemen and women in your thoughts and prayers. .Happy birthday to all who celebrate birthdays in July. The ones I know about are Mablean Sherrer and my sister, Martha Jones, July 1; my brother-in-law, Aubrey Jackson of Mableton, July 4; Gene Winfrey, July 5; Bonnie Boatwright, July 6; Ethan Armour, July 18; and Catherine Callaway, July 25. .What can I say? I am writing this news the same day as last week's news. Turning them both in the same day, last Thursday, in order for those who work at The News-Reporter to have a week's vacation. Wouldn't you say they deserve a week off for putting together this wonderful paper for us to read every week and keeping us informed about things. Amen. .We have been having plenty of squash, onions, green beans, tomatoes, and potatoes out of J.W. and Johnny's garden. After the freak freeze that got everything back in May, everything turned out good in the end and the yield was abundant with radishes, cabbage, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, etc. God can work miracles. He can turn water into wine, make the blind man see, move mountains. .God bless you and God bless America.
